A Suite of Board Enhancement Services
Comprehensive Governance Assessments
Through the process outlined below, leaders can not only get a pulse of the board and gain understanding of its culture, strengths, and weaknesses, but they can also identify underlying issues that, if not addressed, could put the board and the organization at risk.
The assessment phase is the most in-depth stage in the process. We take the time to first understand from board and executive leadership the issues and opportunities the organization is facing and discuss ideal outcomes of the assessment process. This phase also involves the intake of documents, a board self-assessment survey, interviews with key stakeholders, and the observation of one more board and committee meetings.

Facilitation
We conduct a comprehensive review of all information collected in the assessment phase and prepare a report that includes key observations, themes, and governance recommendations for the board to consider for implementation. The report is presented in summary form at the board’s next meeting or retreat, and the consultant serves as a moderator to engage the board and executive leadership in dialogue regarding the report’s findings and next steps.
Going forward, we partner with the board and executive leadership to implement consensus recommendations. This may include support for strategic recruitment efforts, onboarding and education programs, bylaws revisions, committee restructuring, or increased emphasis on board fundraising efforts and giving participation.
